Who we are
Founded in 1978, Al Marwan Group is a diversified organization serving the construction, heavy machinery, Oil & Gas, real estate, development, and Hospitality sectors across the GCC. The Group operates through multiple business units and subsidiaries, delivering integrated solutions supported by strong operational expertise and a well-established regional presence.
Job Summary
Technical Guardianship: Act as the ultimate technical authority on-site for all structural elements, ensuring the absolute structural integrity and stability of a mega-scale high-rise (50+ floors) and ultra-deep basement (5+ levels) development.
Design-to-Execution Integration: Serve as the critical bridge between the Lead Design Consultant’s structural vision and the Main Contractor's physical execution, ensuring that highly complex structural designs are practically constructible within site constraints.
Temporary & Permanent Works Synchronization: Govern the interaction between heavy temporary works (e.g., tower cranes, tie-ins, climbing formwork anchors, deep shoring systems) and the permanent structure, ensuring construction loads never compromise the tower's integrity.
Quality & Compliance Authority: Safeguard structural quality by strictly enforcing adherence to approved "Issued for Construction" (IFC) drawings, local UAE building codes, and international structural engineering standards (e.g., ACI, BS/Eurocodes).
Key Responsibilities
Deep Excavation & Substructure Oversight: Provide strict technical oversight during high-risk early works, monitoring the performance of shoring systems (diaphragm walls, secant piles, active ground anchors) against earth and groundwater pressures, and managing massive, temperature-controlled raft foundation concrete pours.
Superstructure Engineering: Direct the technical execution of the high-rise core and floor plates, overseeing complex structural components including post-tensioned (PT) slabs, heavily congested outrigger levels, transfer slabs, and tuned mass dampers.
Drawing & Constructability Review: Meticulously review and approve critical structural submittals, including complex Bar Bending Schedules (BBS), PT shop drawings, and steel fabrication drawings, proactively raising Requests for Information (RFIs) to resolve design clashes before they impact the schedule.
Verticality & Movement Monitoring: Collaborate intimately with the surveying team to monitor tower verticality, column shortening, and foundation settlement, ensuring structural tolerances are strictly maintained as the building rises to extreme heights and experiences wind loads.
Concrete Technology & Quality: Monitor high-strength concrete (e.g., C80/C100) mixes, slump retention for high-pressure vertical pumping (50+ floors), and mass concrete thermal curing plans to prevent thermal cracking in deep structural members.
Inspection & Authority Approvals: Lead structural walkthroughs with the Consultant and UAE local authorities (e.g., Dubai/Sharjah Municipality), securing sign-offs for structural stage inspections (steel fixing, formwork) prior to major concrete pours, and rapidly engineering solutions for any structural Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Temporary Works Engineering: Review and validate structural load calculations for temporary site installations, including jump-form/slip-form systems, scaffolding, material hoists, and tower crane foundations/tie-ins.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized university. A Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is highly preferred.
Targeted Experience: 10 to 15 years of dedicated structural engineering experience, with a mandatory portfolio of executing ultra-high-rise structures (50+ floors) and massive deep basements (4–5+ levels) strictly within UAE.
Professional Licensing: Must hold relevant high-rise structural approvals/licenses from UAE authorities (e.g., Dubai Municipality “G+Unlimited” Structural Engineer registration, or equivalent in Sharjah/Abu Dhabi).
Technical Software Proficiency: Strong capability to navigate and interrogate 3D structural models using software like ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, alongside high proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D/4D BIM (Revit/Navisworks) for clash detection.
Advanced Structural Knowledge: Deep expertise in the behavior of high-strength concrete, post-tensioning design and execution, lateral wind/seismic load resisting systems (shear walls, outriggers), and soil-structure interaction for deep excavations.
Code Compliance: Comprehensive knowledge of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) codes, British Standards (BS)/Eurocodes, and specific regional requirements like the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code and local seismic/wind design regulations.
Problem-Solving Acumen: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to engineer rapid, safe, and cost-effective remedial solutions for site-based structural anomalies (e.g., honeycombing, rebar clashes, or minor cast-in-place deviations).
